Black Myth: Wukong Bosses: My 2026 Journey Through 91 Yaoguai

Black Myth: Wukong delivers 91 brutal bosses across mythic chapters, blending pattern-learning combat, secrets, and Yaoguai spectacle.

Black Myth: Wukong isn’t a Soulslike — at least, that’s what I keep telling myself after every third attempt on a mechanic-heavy boss. But the label doesn’t matter when a Yaoguai is winding up an attack that will flatten me in one hit. What matters is the dance: learn the pattern, dodge, strike, and maybe, just maybe, survive. Since its release in 2024, I’ve returned to this world many times, and in 2026 the boss rush still feels fresh, brutal, and weirdly beautiful.

There are 91 bosses in Black Myth: Wukong. Some are required to progress. Others hide behind secret paths, grant powerful rewards, or simply exist to humble me. The game has exploration, spells, weapons, armor upgrades, and potion-brewing, but its heart is the bosses. They are the memory makers. They are the reason I keep coming back.

Chapter One: Black Wind Mountain

My journey begins in the forest of Black Wind Mountain. The trees close in, the air feels damp, and every clearing seems to hide something with teeth. Here I meet the Black Wind King, a boss who refuses to fight fair, and the Wandering Wight, an enemy that many players — myself included — learn to fear early. This chapter teaches the rhythm of combat. It also introduces characters who grant spells and resources. Some are helpful. Some are strange. A few make me wonder if I should trust them. I do anyway. Trust me, you will too.

Chapter Two: Yellow Wind Ridge

Then the game throws me into a desolate desert. The Yellow Wind Ridge is hot, dusty, and full of tricky enemies. The Tiger Vanguard and Stone Vanguard stand out, not just because they hit hard, but because they force me to use everything I’ve learned. This chapter also has some pretty strange yet useful characters. They offer upgrades, lore, and the occasional moment of comic relief. I appreciate that, because the desert sun is not kind, and neither are the Yaoguai.

Chapter Three: The New West

From hot to cold, the Destined One is thrust into the chilly mountains of The New West. Snow, silence, and some of the toughest bosses yet. Goldenbrow is a standout, a challenging foe who tests my patience and my reflexes. But there are many other powerful Yaoguai Chiefs and Kings here. Each one feels like a puzzle. Each one wants me dead. I lose. I learn. I win. That loop is addictive.

Chapter Four: The Halfway Point

Chapter four marks the halfway point of the game, and it is packed with unique bosses and great secret locations. Some of those secrets are filled with not-so-great enemies. Others hide choice characters to meet. I spend hours exploring, because I want every spell, every upgrade, every advantage. This is where the game opens up, and where my confidence starts to feel dangerous. The bosses here are not just obstacles. They are gatekeepers. They make me earn every step.

Chapter Five: The Fiery Desolate Plain

Only six bosses are required to continue to chapter six, but there are 17 for me to come across in this fiery desolate plain. That gap is important. It means I can rush forward if I want. It also means I can explore, hunt secrets, and fight enemies that exist purely for the challenge. If I’m looking to 100% the game, I have to be thorough. I have to check every corner. I have to accept that some bosses will kill me until I learn their language. And yes, I will learn it.

Chapter Six: The Final Stretch

Chapter six is the final stretch, and it can prove to be quite a challenge. It doesn’t have as many enemies as the other chapters, but that makes each encounter feel heavier. Here I meet the final Yaoguai King. I also run into a few recognizable characters near the end. By this point, I’m not just fighting bosses. I’m finishing a story. The Destined One has come so far, and so have I.

What I Learned in 2026

In 2026, Black Myth: Wukong remains a game I recommend to anyone who loves boss-focused action. The 91 bosses are not all equal. Some are pushovers. Some are nightmares. But together they create a journey that feels handcrafted. If you’re hunting down every enemy, be sure to check how to get Silk or Refined Iron Sand to upgrade your weapons and armor. Those resources matter. They can turn a losing fight into a victory.

Chapter Setting Boss Highlights
One Black Wind Mountain Black Wind King, Wandering Wight
Two Yellow Wind Ridge Tiger Vanguard, Stone Vanguard
Three The New West Goldenbrow, Yaoguai Chiefs and Kings
Four Halfway point Unique bosses, secret locations
Five Fiery desolate plain 17 bosses, only 6 required
Six Final stretch Final Yaoguai King, recognizable characters

So that’s my journey. It’s messy. It’s frustrating. It’s beautiful. And if you’ll excuse me, I have a Yaoguai to dodge.
